THE FLOWING TIDE

When I was young I had my pride,
I would not heed the flowing tide.
When I was young I could not see,
The flowing tide was meant for me.

I’ve clambered over mountains high,
I’ve heard the birds sing in the sky.
I’ve watched the mighty seas roll by,
And I’ve come to heed the flowing tide.

When I was young I could not see,
The flowing tide would come for me.
I could not see the need to hide,
When I thought about the flowing tide.

I’ve travelled far and I’ve travelled wide,
I’ve watched the ebb and the flowing tide,
Tell me 0 Lord, where shall I hide
When they come for me on the flowing tide?
