Atterbury, known for his appearances on the Antiques Road Show, has put
this book together with the Eype Historical Group.
The
postcards reproduced in this book have been drawn from a number of private
collections in Dorset and while a considerable number of Eype cards
have been recorded, some are inevitably, extremely rare.
Many
residents of Eype,Symondsbury and Bridport have been generous with their
knowledge, their records and their memories in the preparation of this
book.

These
are just two of the many postcards of Eype reproduced in this
book.
left:
Published by Potts 1920s. The foreground underlines the point
that cliff erosion is continuous and generally gradual.
right:
Published by James Valentine & Sons, Dundee 1930s. Dramatic
erosion of the cliffs has brought the Wingfield Digby steadily
closer to the cliff edge. Today the chalet is only a few yards
from the edge. However, there have been major falls between Eype
and West Bay, notably ones in 1902 and 1923 that were reported
in the local press
